Voted #1 Allen Bradley PLC Online Training

PLC Programming Education in 2024

If you think you need help with PLC programming then you might not want to discard this message!

In 2018, I was asked by a few people that I was mentoring in PLC programming to make a training program that laid out ladder logic programming, and at first, if I’m being honest I thought to myself “No” but then asked myself why I thought that. Well, the truth to it is that when I first learned programmable logic controls I had a hard journey with every turn of the software changes go.

Meaning I had to go through what it seemed like a learning curve after learning curve so I told myself if I ever tried to build a course to help others learn that I would do all I could to make it the very best from beginning to end of the course.

“Learning programming was a hard road for me, but it doesn’t have to be for you…Let me help” – Shane Welcher

In the time period when I was asked, I ended up having a very extensive project at work which took all of my time in which left me barely being able to produce 115-minute YouTube videos from time to time which in my thoughts are just not living up to my true potential.

When this occurred, I laid out a plan to follow through with this request to build the best Allen Bradley plc training that I could by using all of my hard-knock learning with the formal classroom training and to make this course at a great price to help as many people as I could.

I truly want to add value in whatever I do so without any further remarks, let’s get into the nut and bolts of the course that I put together.

“It cost doesn’t anything just to watch the free sample videos of the course to make sure it’s right for you…Everyone loves it!”

Here is an intro to the course that I made before I released it but it is now released:

Since I started Online PLC Support I strive to give the people that support me the very best detailed information about anything that is needed.

I started making YouTube videos about plc programming using Allen Bradley controls systems about 5 and a half years ago and decided to make this website to support the training efforts about 3 years ago.

Getting the proper training equals “Better to be ready than having to get ready.”

Who is this for?
  • Anyone looking to learn the complete setup and PLC controls in the RSLogix 5000 or Studio 5000 software
  • Example: May have some knowledge of PLCs but am looking to find out the details and the tricks of the trade.

PLC Training – What’s Inside?

The following is covered in detail with over 21.5 hours of video training.

Software Used In This Course Are skills:

  • RSLogix 5000
  • Studio 5000
  • RSLinx
  • RSLogix 5000 Emulator
  • Studio 5000 Emulator

All Programming Topics covered in this course:

  • Ladder Logic
  • Function Block Diagram
  • Structured Text
  • Sequential Function Chart

PLC Training

This course is designed to give you a deep understanding of elements as if you have never seen the software to be a programmer in all four programming languages that Rockwell Automation has. From ladder logic, function block diagrams, structured text, and sequential function charts along with tricks of the trade for each, often not talked about or even have references anywhere else on the internet.

PLC Curriculum For This Course

This course starts out first by introducing the software that will be used and the differences then quickly lead into the ladder logic section which has over 13 hours of video training just in the ladder logic section. This starts off at a slow pace to give a beginner-level approach but then rapidly picks up the pace to get the key foundation of programming ladder logic.

To give a first-hand view of the course content I have put together a small list of some of the top items that are in this section.

Basic Programming but is not limited to:

  • What is RSLogix 5000
  • What is Studio 5000
  • What are the differences Between them
  • Adding Tasks
  • Timers, On, Off, RET
  • Counters
  • OTE, OTL, OTU
  • User-Defined Data Types
  • Negate Instruction
  • MOV Instruction
  • Compare and Compute Instructions
  • Indirect Addressing
  • Understanding Indirect Addressing
  • FAL Instruction
  • Alias Bits to real-world I/O Live Example
  • Alias Bits to other bits
  • Import/Export Programs for faster programming
  • GSV for Date and Time
  • Produced and Consumed Data
  • Making an Add-On Instruction
  • JSR Parameter Passing

When I first started

The goal of building this PLC training was to help as many people as I possibly could as I first started with doing YouTube videos years ago. The problem with doing the YouTube videos was that it seemed to help topic to topic came along but also provoked a lot of questions which need a learning structure

I answer every question that gets asked on my YouTube channel however when it comes down to it there are topics that are very easily discussed over video versus a text so when it comes to answering a Complex question on YouTube then I found it best to make videos to help answer that question.

This led to more & more videos being made and then also led to more and more questions about PLC training. So, I decided, after being asked in the YouTube comments, to make a training platform that would be an easy step-by-step, over-the-shoulder programming method to learn from.

A well-structured platform that starts from the very beginning and then leads into every PLC language there is for Rockwell Automation. Being that I had 18 years of programming with Rockwell Automation and Allen Bradley PLC’s it was only best that I make a structured platform so that the information was easily transitioned to learn from.

Don’t get me wrong YouTube is a great place to learn from especially if you just want to quick tutorial on this or that but when it comes to detailed PLC training and getting the full knowledge that you need a well-structured training platform will take you to the next level.

I’ve always been grateful for everybody that has watched my PLC training on my YouTube channels and through the years everybody who has participated in my training through Udemy & through my new platform.

When I first started out making PLC training, I started with Udemy and then found out that the video quality wasn’t as good as it should be for good solid detailed training. So, after a year’s time of developing PLC training, I moved to a different platform that has much better video quality so that the information is easily seen and heard.

This has been a great move from all the student feedback that I’ve gotten on this new training platform & for good reason, so I could give the best way to soak up the knowledge as fast as possible.

Passing on the knowledge

I have been fortunate to work around some of the top engineers in the industry which led me to a point of using it or losing it so this is why I built this website and have courses to help others learn.

This is the best course in 2020 for a detailed Rockwell Automation PLC training program like this before for the cost and I highly doubt that there will be anything close to this unless I am the one who makes it. Continuously raising the bar is my mission and I encourage you to join my journey.

As part of making this course the best, I will be adding revisions or videos from time to time to add more sections but as it sits right now there are over 21 hours of video training about RSLogix 5000 and Studio 5000 controls.

“It cost doesn’t anything just to watch the free sample videos of the course to make sure it’s right for you…Everyone loves it!”

My Goal

I will not stop producing videos and training courses until everyone that wants to better themselves has been helped, whether through my free videos on YouTube or through my paid courses that I have made, or even my online coaching that I do. Feel free to reach out to me if you need to, I will help out in any way that I can.

Here is an example of how a total system that I am planning to produce the best techs out in the industry.

At this time I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this article and visit. I hope that this article helped you and if you have any questions or recommendations for future articles then drop me a line.
